Huron Valley State Bank Celebrates Money Smart Week
Milford, MI, May 2017 – Money Smart Week, a nationally-sponsored campaign dedicated to helping families better manage their financial resources is held the last week of April. To support this program, Huron Valley State Bank hosted a poster contest for elementary age students in the Huron Valley district and presented a segment on financial literacy to families at the Highland White Lake Business Association’s Money Camp.
The Money Smart Week Poster Contest hosted by Huron Valley State Bank asked the question "why is it important to know about money?” Participants were to design a poster in response to this question. There was a $25 cash reward for the best poster by grade and a grand prize cash reward of $100. Posters were submitted at the end of the month, judged by employees of the bank and displayed at the Milford Branch the first week of May. The poster winners are as follows:
Grade level winners are as follows: Margaret Vannetten (Spring Mills Elementary), Nellie Buckner (Heritage Elementary), Ethan Buckner (Heritage Elementary) and Marty Strauch (Johnson Elementary). The grand prize winner was a fifth grader, Selah Harvey (Spring Mills Elementary).
“The bank employees had a lot of fun reviewing all the posters. The thought provoking detail that went into each one of these was most impressive,” said Sheri Miles, Marketing Director. “The poster contest is definitely a program we plan to continue.”
Also during the month of April, Huron Valley State Bank gave a financial literacy presentation to several families at the Highland White Lake Business Association’s first annual Money Camp hosted on April 20th.
