Huron Valley State Bank and Spring Mills Elementary Celebrate the "Bank At School Partnership

Milford, MI, June 2014 – Huron Valley State Bank celebrates another successful year of the "Bank-At-School" program with the students of Spring Mills Elementary. The end of the school year marks the 3rd year of the partnership between both organizations. The students participating in the program enjoyed a pizza party with guest appearance of "Awesome the Pig."

The Bank-At-School program is a student-run bank located inside of Spring Mills Elementary in Highland, Michigan. Fifth grade students applied and interviewed for positions of the school bank earlier in the year, and are trained for the position of Branch Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, tellers and marketing reps. The tellers handle real banking transactions from students at the deposit only bank. Assistant Branch Manager, Melissa Herron, oversees operations and Customer Service Representative, Suzanne Rolando coaches the 10 student bankers.

"It has been another wonderful year educating the children on money management and good savings skills," said Shelley Dickerson, Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager. "Our partnership with Spring Mills provides workplace experience for students to learn skills in a variety of areas from leadership, marketing, finance and customer service. This also teaches our youth real-life experience interacting with a bank."

"We are proud to be a part of this program," said Randy Muffley, Principal of Spring Mills Elementary. "Our students are acquiring invaluable business and life skills that can only be learned by hands-on experience."
